Indigenous Movement Organization is an Amsterdam based organization committed to raise awareness of Indigenous Issues and Indigenous Peoples Rights. We aim to inform about indigenous issues and to inspire people to take action and play an active role in society. For this purpose, we organize public and cultural events to support the rights of Indigenous Peoples; project informative documentary films; and we offer lectures and trainings.
On September 22nd and 23th the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples will be held at the UN in New York, USA; we want to take this opportunity to broaden the message given by the Indigenous Peoples. For this reason, we are organizing a Parallel Conference in Amsterdam to highlight the importance of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, on Sep 25th and 26th.
As we realize there is little knowledge in Europe on this subject, we believe we can achieve a great impact in organizing this event, since we will invite people from the ILO 69, EU parliamentarians, the head of EU mission to MERCOSUR countries, Dutch politicians, other organizations with a strong political influence and University students, that will cover the next main topics:
• Business Principles and Human Rights for Indigenous Peoples
• Thematic Advice of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
• Outcome of the official conference, and
• Plan of action at European Level to increase the awareness of the importance of the implementation of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples worldwide.
As an introduction to the event, Indigenous Movement Organization will organize informative workshops to be held the first day of the Parallel Conference in Amsterdam for the public interested on this matter and willing to have a better understanding of the subject.
Knowing your expertise on the subject and your high spirit of support with our cause, we are contacting you to invite you to this event. We are looking forward to hearing from your suggestions.
We take this opportunity to send our warmest greetings and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
